The Best Paint for your Walls
Oftentimes, one of the biggest reasons a decal isn’t adhering to the wall properly is due to the paint. With so many options on the market for paint, it’s hard to know if you are making the right choice. Here are some things to consider when painting your wall:
• Waiting to apply your decal until after your paint has had time to dry and cure is critical. We recommend waiting 3 weeks to apply your new decal once the wall has been painted. If you don’t, this can cause the decal to bubble and want to pull away from the wall because it has not had time to properly air prior to installing.
• Paint companies now offer low and zero VOC options for paint. We do not recommend using these paints. The decals have a harder time sticking to this type of paint so it is best to stick with the regular VOC paint if possible.
• It is always best to give a sample pack a try before ordering if you are unsure how your wall does with decals. You want your surface to be as clean, dry, and smooth as possible. Dirt and dust cause adhesives to not work well so make sure to clean off your wall first. The more texture you have on your wall, the more difficult the application process will be.
